Dani Doucette Shares Thoughts On New Single “Craved”

Kat Harlton

Taking influences from her musical family, Dani Doucette fell in love with music as a child and started singing and songwriting at the young age of 6. Before branching out into the music scene, Dani had been in the fashion/modelling industry for over 15 years.

She worked with prominent brands and walked the world’s longest runway for the Kols Foundation as a celebrity participant, raising over $2500 in donations. Dani also donated the income from two songs to raise funding for World Elephant Day

In 2020, Dani signed with MDC Music and began to make a name for herself in the Toronto music scene by performing alongside prominent names at various drive-in concerts during the pandemic. She later released the singles “This Christmas (You & Me)” and “On My Mind,” produced by Saint Misha, and “Selfish” produced by Anthony Wright.

Now Dani’s back with her latest single “Craved” and we had the opportunity to chat with her about inspiration, what she hopes fans connect with on the track and what’s next.

Kat: Can you talk about the inspiration behind your latest single “Craved”?

Dani: Have you ever caught eyes with that one person you know is gonna be trouble? You pass by and feel something electric, or they just interest you to the point of no return? CRAVED was written about that silent internal desire we feel when we come across that person.

Kat: What do you hope fans take from the track?

Dani: I hope fans TAKE OFF their shoes and dance! Lol that’s what I made this song for! That feeling is the takeaway. A song to really feel good this summer!

Kat: What do you find is the most challenging part of your creative process?

Dani: The most challenging part for me is there isn’t enough time in a day or enough studio time to really get all of my song ideas into demos. My mind is continuously working on something new, and it can get frustrating not being able to always get the idea out when I need to. The business part of music sometimes stagnates the creative part. I am never at a lack of ideas. Not yet thankfully.

Kat: What has been a career highlight for you so far? What have you learned along the way?

Dani: Right now I feel like I’m at a turning point. Over the last few months things have started to really ramp up. My manager Reno told me to start relishing in the little wins and start giving myself credit for what we have been accomplishing. Everyday right now is a highlight. Momentum has started and I’m trying to appreciate all the moments. I’ve learned that persistence wins.

Kat: What’s next?

Dani: This year we have a line up of amazing songs being released, but what I am most excited about at this moment is releasing this song and the music video with it. This video is next level and has so many nods to top pop artists and a sci-fi twist. I love anything space!
